Willis/Freyberg Addition
Jeanine and Eric love to cook but their existing Kitchen isn't quite a chef's dream. They wanted to upgrade and enlarge their Kitchen, gain a Dining Room, and design an artist studio and exercise area that could later be used for live-in guests.
Their new stair wraps around the 1 ½ story space added on the back of the house and ends at a catwalk overlooking the Dining Room. I collaborated with the structural engineer and a metal fabricator to finalize the custom rail details for the catwalk, as it is suspended from the roof to avoid putting disruptive columns in the Kitchen.
The wonderful amount of detail that Jeanine and Eric provided served as a catalyst for the design. Every detail is thought through to minimize Eric's pet peeve, dusting, and even the dog Chili gets her own little door to the back yard. We are on schedule with the design and obtaining a permit, and construction is slated to commence next month
